The Journal of Visual Culture Editorial Collective is proud to launch a new biannual writing prize to honour the life and work of our forever colleague Øyvind Vågnes. Throughout his illustrious career, Øyvind produced work in a number of literary and media genres, including academic writing, novels (from graphic and satirical to sci-fi), comics journalism, drawing, epic poetry, non-fiction, and music and film criticism.
The Øyvind Vågnes Writing Prize is hosted by the Journal of Visual Culture’s web-based, multimedia-friendly, multi-genre, and public-facing JVC Magazine, as it displays sensibilities close to Øyvind’s own. Our jury convenes every other January to select the winner from among all the contributions published in JVC Magazine over the previous two years. The winner is awarded £250 alongside a certificate.
